By immersing yourself in the Japanese culture and language, you will easily pick up the language as you will hear it everywhere around you and you see yourself somehow forced to learn it. You will learn in the same manner a small child learns its native language.

Another method is known as association. You associate Japanese words and their pronunciation with the English meaning. What you do is just is translate English words to Japanese words in your mind and then you learn to connect them in complete phrases.

This is the best method to learn Japanese if you do not have the time and means to learn it through immersion.
