How About A Japanese Language School?

The Japanese language is completely different from any other western language in terms of alphabet and grammar. But while there are not one, but four Japanese alphabets used, the grammar itself is actually simpler than English's. When deciding to learn Japanese, the first big challenge you have to pass over is the fear that you will have to stay for hours with many books in front of you to learn a just few words. There are many ways of learning Japanese and just as many places to learn it from. Many people chose the arduous learning method, method which is not as easy and short lasting. There are ways of learning Japanese which can make it fun to learn the language. There are online courses, you can choose to learn it by immersing yourself in a Japanese speaking environment, or you can try a Japanese Language School. There are many elements which differentiates these Japanese language schools from normal foreign language schools.

Depending on your reason for wanting to learn Japanese, there are five types of Japanese language learning institutions. You can choose to attend universities (undergraduate courses), graduate schools, junior colleges and post graduate courses. There also are schools specialized in a certain segment (technology schools or medical schools, etc).

Before choosing the learning institution's courses you want to attend you should know why you want to learn Japanese. You may want to know the language for the degree, to conduct a long-term research, or you may need to learn specialized Japanese (the terms and phrases from one particular field).

You can choose from studying Japanese at a Japanese language institute or by attending the courses offered by a private university.

Once you have settled the reasons for which you want to learn Japanese and the fields you want to be specialized in, you can choose the actual learning institution. And there are quite a few universities to choose from in Japan, over 700. You can select private or public institutions. The length of the studying years is 4 for general purpose universities and 6 years for medical studies.

After you have attended undergraduate studies, or if you have attended college in another country, you can choose to study for the master's program or the doctor's program in a Japanese graduate school. The master's program lasts for up to two years, while the doctor's program can last up to five years.

The doctor's program is made up of several steps (the first two years and the second period consisting of the last three years). The length of the doctor's program can also vary depending of the specialization you are attending (the length of the doctor's program in medicine, dentistry and veterinary science if of 4 years) or even the university you are attending.

If you want to attend a Junior college, you should know that the length of the studies ranges from 2 to 3 years, depending on the department.

There also are special learning training colleges in Japan which you can attend to receive a better specialization and they last for one or two years.
